Introducing the Cyber Security Engineering Program

As digital transformation accelerates across industries, the demand for skilled professionals in cyber security continues to grow. Recognizing this need, Near East University has launched the Cyber Security Engineering program to prepare a new generation of engineers capable of securing digital infrastructures against ever-evolving threats. This program combines a strong foundation in engineering principles with specialized knowledge in cyber security, equipping students with the skills to design, analyze, and protect complex computer systems. By addressing the challenges of today’s digital economy, the program aims to nurture experts who will play a crucial role in safeguarding digital assets and ensuring secure operations across various sectors.

The aims and advantages of the Cyber Security Engineering program
The main advantage of the Cyber Security Engineering program is its ability to train professional engineers who can analyze computer networks in today’s rapidly growing digital economy, ensure secure operations, and anticipate security issues before they arise. The program prepares students to design computer systems with the competence to counter malicious cyber attacks, meeting the broad need for experts in the field of cyber security.

The program’s goals include providing students with knowledge on analyzing and evaluating components and systems in terms of security, and maintaining operations in the face of risks and threats, with a focus on engineering systems.

The program’s place in academic and technological developments
The Cyber Security Engineering program, along with its focus on cloud security, is closely aligned with current academic and technological developments. Today, most data is stored digitally or in the cloud, making its security a critical concern. Additionally, mobile devices present a variety of security challenges, underscoring the need for experts in the field of cyber security.

The program’s strengths in internal and external evaluations
The program is offered at many universities only at the master’s and doctorate levels. There are very few undergraduate programs in this field, both nationally and internationally. Establishing this department, which is deeply connected to technology, at our university will attract the attention of many international students, bringing numerous advantages to students and encouraging them to pursue their education in our country.

Internship opportunities and collaborations
A compulsory internship is part of this program. Students can complete their internships in industrial organizations, as well as in research centers and institutes within the university (such as Günsel Otomotiv, the International Research Center for AI and IoT, the AI and Robotics Institute, and Near East Hospital). Alternatively, they may choose institutions aligned with their programs, subject to approval by the department and the rectorate.
