Medical Students’ Association of Northern Cyprus
Medical Students’ Association of Northern Cyprus (MSANC)

The Medical Students’ Association of North Cyprus (MSANC) is a student-led, non-profit organization dedicated to representing and empowering medical students across North Cyprus. The association provides a platform for academic development, professional growth, and international collaboration, complementing medical education with practical experience and global exposure.

MSANC is a full member of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), one of the world’s oldest and largest student-run organizations, founded in 1951. Through this affiliation, MSANC connects medical students in North Cyprus with a global network spanning over 100 countries.

Vision and Objectives

MSANC aims to bridge local and global medical communities by:

  • Connecting students with international opportunities through IFMSA General Assemblies, training, and exchange programs
  • Facilitating interaction with medical students worldwide
  • Supporting students in understanding and improving healthcare systems
  • Enhancing medical education and essential clinical and professional skills
  • Promoting ethics, human rights, leadership, and self-development

International Representation

MSANC actively represents Northern Cyprus at international platforms. Members regularly participate in IFMSA General Assemblies, held annually in March and August, as well as European Regional Meetings (EuRegMe).

These initiatives enhance students’ clinical reasoning, research skills, and awareness of real-world healthcare challenges.

Exchange Programs

One of MSANC’s key initiatives is its international internship exchange program, organized annually during the summer. Through this program, medical students from abroad are hosted in North Cyprus, accommodated in Near East University dormitories, and participate in clinical rotations at Near East University Hospital.

For the 2025–2026 term, MSANC successfully hosted 46 incoming exchange students from countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Romania, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Egypt, Russia, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany, Tunisia, Portugal, Finland, Ukraine, Poland, Denmark, Palestine, Jordan, Sweden, India, Norway, Indonesia, Malta, the Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Estonia, Ireland, Georgia, Canada, Italy, Lebanon, and Moldova.

Through SCOPE (clinical) and SCORE (research) exchanges, students participated in structured hospital clerkships and research placements under professional supervision. Alongside academic training, MSANC organized cultural and social activities, creating a well-rounded experience that fostered both professional development and global connections.

Institutional Support

Operating with the support of the Near East University Dean of Students Office, MSANC continues to bring together medical students from around the world in the TRNC, combining academic training with cultural exchange in a diverse and international environment.
